Getting Started

FREE CONSULTATION
Schedule a free 15-minute phone or video consultation to help decide what the appropriate next steps are for your child and your family. If an evaluation is appropriate, we will offer to schedule one at that time, or you can choose to think it over and give us a call back when you’re ready.

EVALUATION
Evaluations include a combination of parent interview, therapist’s clinical observations, and formal assessment procedures. Results of the evaluation, recommendations, and an electronic copy of the evaluation will be provided. You are welcome to use it as you feel appropriate.

TREATMENT
If the evaluation indicates speech therapy is recommended, you will be welcome to schedule therapy appointments in our home therapy office or via teletherapy. Arrangements can also be made to provide therapy in daycare or preschool settings within a reasonable distance from the office.

How do I Know if my Child Needs Speech Therapy?
The CDC has published developmental guidelines to help families understand what communication skills children typically acquire at each age, and those can be accessed by clicking the link below. If you’re concerned about your child’s communication skills, we are here to help.

Is your child difficult to understand? Do you think they mispronounce their words more than their same age peers? Although there’s a wide range of developmentally appropriate speech sounds, families often report their child with an articulation deficit often has a harder time making their words understood when compared to same age peers or siblings.

Children with language delays often have difficulty following directions, answering questions, and communicating their basic wants and needs with you. They may have a hard time putting two or three words in a sentence and might have trouble learning or using new words. Children with a language delay might become increasingly frustrated when they are unable to make themselves understood at the same level as their siblings or peers.

Does your child seem to get stuck on their words? Do they repeat sounds, syllables, or words? A short period of “stuttering” is common in young children as their growing brains work to keep up with their words and thoughts, and many will outgrow it. However, if this period lasts longer than 3-4 months, or is accompanied by facial or body movements such as blinking or unusual movements of body parts, you may want to consider consulting with a speech language pathologist.
